This READ: No One is Safe in the Woods by Tony Urban

So, the year was…hell, I don’t remember the year! 😂 But the reboot of Dune had just been released on HBO Max (so that dates the event 😉), and I downloaded it to my iPad and wanted to watch it as intended: in a terrifying location where the sand worm could scare the midnight out of me!

Well, I fell asleep before the sand worm showed (early, I know!) but woke to a terrible smell wafting into my one man tent, pitched about six miles from the road out of the woods. The trailhead is accessible from a place called Battleship Rock, and is said to be haunted. Seeing as how I’d listened to several episodes of Sasquatch Chronicles on the drive up there, and watched a few episodes of The X-Files the night before, my subconscious was primed for anything!

So what was that terrible stench? Could it be an ancient evil? Or maybe the missing link between man and ape? Something more wicked like the Skinwalker, or a Chupacabra?? Naw, it’s a weasel-like creature that secretes stinky oil when it gets scared. 😂

But I was ready for anything! And the collection of stories from Tony Urban’s No One is Safe in the Woods, does a much better job of collecting tales from a serious place…the woods…at night! As my reviews go (I’m not a critic BTW 🤓) don’t wanna toss around any spoilers, so lemmie say this: wish I woulda been reading this that night I watched Dune by myself in a single man tent, in the middle of the woods so many years ago…frightful stuff! 😳
