The Unmaking of June Furrow by Adrienne Young - LIVE Lunch Review
Featured! 👀 Bonus Review: The Cursed Prince's Thief by Aveline Lark
The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young was my surprise hit of the week for so many reasons! It will be tough to avoid spoilers, BUT here goes...
So, there are a lot of story devices authors can use to delve into the 'surreal effects of a fantastic scenario.' Or something like that! 😂 So how does a story like The Unmaking of June Furrow utilize a semi-unbelievable device so you don't have to suspend disbelief with a literal anchor? It's a challenging question, and without a spoiler alert, there's a useful parallel from a less popular eighties movie.
Could The Unmaking of June Furrow be a spin-off from the movie device Somewhere in Time? Welp, no, not really. There's much more to the book's story, much more than just a simple lovey-dovey tale. The Unmaking of June Furrow featured mystery, suspense, contemporary social topics, supernatural science fiction, murder mystery, and, by far, it was simply a good old-fashioned gripping read!
The time travel romance Somewhere in Time has so many dynamics that it could easily be adapted into The Unmaking of June Furrow. However, in accordance with modern storytelling, the movie isn't as intense as the book, and honestly, this works for the movie. The Unmaking of June Furrow really takes its time addressing the challenging themes without boring the reader.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely worth a read!
Bonus The Cursed Prince’s Thief by Aveline Lark was an entertaining bonus book that I stumbled upon while scrolling Substack! It was the first Fantasy genre story I'd ever read, and I enjoyed it a lot. The Characters, Sable, Voren, and Adrien, were well-established throughout the original story and created a page-turner!
Now, I am a rapid reader, but it was easy to blaze through this book during my lunch break 😃 The original format was well developed for the target audience of 12 to 18-year-olds and really moved the story along nicely!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fun read!
These books were both great additions to their genre, and I highly recommend diving into both! My next LIVE Lunch review will be on February 27th at 1205 PM and if you can't make the LIVE event, my Substack features every previous event in edited format...Which might be more popular 😂👀🤓
Thanks for reading! - Gabriel Maestas
Don't miss my upcoming Substack fiction series launching soon! 👀
Thank you for the kind rating!!
